Where land meets water, and you learn to build both.

A paludarium is a complete ecosystem in a single enclosure: a flowing water zone, a misty land section, and lush planting that ties them together. In this hands-on workshop at Terratopia Studio, you'll build one from the ground up on a 1 ft × 1.5 ft paludarium, guided step by step by people who design and install these systems professionally.

Over one weekend, 24th & 25th October (4–5 hours a day) at Terratopia Studio, you'll build one from the ground up on a 1 ft × 1.5 ft paludarium, guided step by step by people who design and install these systems professionally.

No experience needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands wet.

Location 3C, 812, 3rd Cross Rd, HRBR Layout 1st Block, HRBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560043

Choose How You Build

Group Build | ₹10,000 per person

Work alongside up to 3 others (maximum 4 per group) on a shared paludarium. You'll take part in every stage, from planning to planting, and learn by building, discussing, and solving problems as a team. This option suits beginners, friends, couples, and anyone who wants the full learning experience at an accessible price.
Please note: the group paludarium stays at the studio and is not taken home.

Individual Build | ₹30,000 per person

Your own paludarium, built entirely by you, start to finish, with expert guidance at every step. Every design choice is yours, and when the workshop ends, you take your living ecosystem home.
Ideal for hobbyists, home decorators, and anyone who wants a one-of-a-kind piece they made themselves.

What You'll Learn

1. Structure
Understand how a paludarium works as a system: how the land and water zones relate, how moisture and drainage are managed, and how the enclosure is set up for long-term health.

2. Design
Plan your layout before you build. Learn composition, depth, focal points, and how to balance land, water, and open space so the finished piece looks natural.

3. Hardscape
Work with rock, wood, and background materials to create the bones of your landscape: cliffs, ledges, slopes, and hiding spots that give the ecosystem its character.

4. Electricals
Get comfortable with the technology behind a paludarium: lighting, pumps, water flow, and misting or fogging systems. Learn how to install them safely and keep them hidden from view.

5. Building the Sections
Construct the land and water zones: substrate layering, drainage, false bottoms, and water features, so each part of the ecosystem has the conditions it needs.

6. Planting
Choose and place plants suited to each zone: mosses, ferns, epiphytes, and aquatic plants. Learn the techniques that help them root, spread, and thrive.

7. Testing
Bring your paludarium to life. Run the systems, check water flow and humidity, troubleshoot, and learn the care routine that keeps your ecosystem healthy for years.
