Terratopia Studio LECA Balls are lightweight, porous expanded clay balls that make an excellent drainage layer for terrariums, paludariums and planted containers.

Their open, porous structure creates space for excess water to collect below the substrate while helping maintain airflow around the roots. This helps prevent the growing substrate from sitting directly in stagnant water.

How to Use

1. Add a 1–2 inch layer of LECA Balls to the bottom of your terrarium.
2. Add a suitable barrier layer such as mesh to prevent the substrate from mixing with the drainage layer.
3. Add your terrarium substrate on top.
4. Plant and decorate your terrarium as desired.
5. Avoid allowing the water level to permanently reach the growing substrate.
